Meet Your Psychologist: Dr. Courtney Lavadia

Providing Therapy for women, mothers, and high-achievers in Woodinville, WA

Therapy is not a place where broken people come to be fixed.
It's where we learn to heal by rediscovering the best parts of ourselves.

Therapy is not a place where broken people come to be fixed. It's where we learn to heal by rediscovering the best parts of ourselves.

Deep in my soul, I believe that you are a human being that inherently deserves kindness, compassion, and respect regardless of how many items you’ve checked off your to-do list. If you’re looking for a down-to-Earth therapist who will hold you accountable in meeting your goals and support you in actually prioritizing your needs before others, here’s your official invitation to start your rewilding journey with me.

Courtney Lavadia, PhD

Founder, Owner, and Licensed Psychologist

I earned my master’s and doctoral degrees in school psychology with an emphasis on pediatric health. Working in and out of schools and hospitals, I came to realize that child psychologists are uniquely skilled in helping both children as well as the adults in their lives. Being the overachiever I am (yes, you read that right, I’m one of you!), I sought to expand my clinical skills to working with folks across the entire lifespan. In my eyes, being able to support anyone and everyone was a way for me to practice at the very top of my license, and I knew it would be a huge opportunity for career growth. Since then, I’ve transitioned to solely working with adults, and, importantly, still rely heavily on my school psychology background for insight to best support parents and caregivers.

While I’ve worked hard to accomplish my professional goals, I’ve faced my fair share of failure over the years, too. I know what’s it like to wonder what you’re doing wrong and why you’ve become life’s punching bag. I tried all the things, but it wasn’t until I truly learned how to love myself (thank goodness for therapists of therapists) that I actually started to see a change.

In that same time, I’ve gotten married, left a toxic job, landed a new gig, welcomed my first child, and started my own business. All of which came with new failures, new challenges, and new wins. Now I feel fully equipped with not just the clinical expertise, but also the genuine empathy and life experience to really know how you’re feeling, and how to support you through it. If you feel that it’s time for a change, but aren’t sure where to start, just reach out.

I’m ready when you are.

My values as a therapist

Credentials & Experience

I’ve had the honor to support individuals of all ages, identities, and cultural backgrounds with a wide array of struggles. I’ve worked in schools, community mental health and primary care clinics, as well as in hospitals. In this current season of life, I feel a specific call to provide support for women, mothers, and high-achievers navigating anxiety and burnout.

Rewilding Collective was created out of the desire to listen to the small voice inside of my head, gently encouraging me to follow my dreams. All of that to say, I’ve come a very long way to be here with you in this moment, and I can’t want to start our work together.

Behind the Scenes

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and traveling. Definite bonus points if we are doing both at the same time. We recently braved our first intercontinental flight with my toddler, and, wow, after that I feel absolutely invincible (IYKYK).

For my downtime, I like using my creative brain in all kinds of ways: sewing, crocheting, cooking/baking, and playing the piano. I also have a bit of a nerdy side that enjoys reading high fantasy books, and playing organization and puzzle games on my Switch.

I grew up in Texas, and slowly made my way north during my graduate training. I’ve always said that I’ve moved to progressively more beautiful states, each one prettier than the last. While I love the rolling hills of central Texas and the beautiful desert sunsets of Arizona, the evergreens and their mountain backdrop of Washington have stolen my heart. I am so proud to call the PNW my forever home.

Rewilding Collective

As I was building my business, I was reflecting on aspects of life that resonated with the kind of work that I want to be known for. Growing up in vast country fields to now hiking through the most beautiful forests, I have always felt a pull towards nature. Being outside is where I feel the most grounded, the most connected, and the most centered. What better description then of the outcomes I hope my clients can achieve in their own healing journey?

After doing some digging, I came across an ecological term that really struck home: rewilding. Put simply, it relates to nature taking the lead in its own healing, and, in doing so, growing into a richer state than ever before. This encompasses all that I hope you gain in the therapy that we do together. I’m there to help guide you, but, ultimately, you are the leader in your own healing. I hope you can reclaim those beautiful, wonderful, wild parts of yourself that are yearning to be seen and loved again, and give them the spotlight they deserve. In this way, I believe we can make your rewilding journey one of healing and growth.
